Fyn lies at the heart of Denmark. It is an island of great natural beauty – molded in gently rolling hills and valleys, over which is laid a rich tapestry of fields and forests, lakes and streams. It generously blessed with beaches of sand or pebbles along its more than 1,000 kilometres of coastline. It has a long and colourful history which is reflected in its cities, towns and villages, and not least of all in its many castles and manor houses, scattered across the island. Like the rest of the country it has a strong maritime tradition, which goes back to the time when a large number of its inhabitants made the living from, on or by the sea.
